About Sureka

BETTER INGREDIENTS.
BETTER CHOICES.

Sureka builds businesses around the connection between supply and demand.

On the supply side, we work with ingredients, know-how, production capability and product development. On the demand side, we work with brands, professional buyers and market access.

Sureka develops, commercialises and invests where connecting these sides can create stronger businesses and better returns.

  1. SUPPLY
  2. OPPORTUNITY
  3. DEMAND
  4. RETURN

Our business idea

CONNECT WHAT
ALREADY WORKS.

Good ingredients, products, production capabilities and customer relationships already exist. What is often missing is the connection between them.

Sureka looks for situations where a useful capability on the supply side can be connected with a real need on the demand side — and where doing so can create a viable business.

WHAT ALREADY HAS VALUE?

WHAT IS MISSING?

Who needs it — and can the economics work?

Investment discipline

FOUR QUESTIONS BEFORE WE INVEST.

  1. SUPPLY

Is there a real capability worth building on?

  2. OPPORTUNITY

    What specifically can Sureka add?

  3. DEMAND

Who will buy, use or choose it?

  4. RETURN

Does the expected return justify the capital and execution risk?

IF WE CANNOT ANSWER THESE FOUR QUESTIONS,
WE SHOULD NOT INVEST.

Why smaller businesses

GOOD BUSINESSES DO NOT ALWAYS HAVE EVERYTHING THEY NEED TO GROW.

A smaller company may already have a good product, specialist know-how, production capacity or loyal customers. But it may lack distribution, new applications, capital or access to another market.

Sureka looks for businesses where we can identify exactly what is missing — and where adding it can create measurable value.

WE ARE NOT ACQUIRING COMPANIES SIMPLY TO MAKE SUREKA BIGGER.

GROWTH CASE

Editorial band study of Sureka's working approach

Where the thinking started

A FATHER. A DAUGHTER.
AND A LOT OF ARGUMENTS.

In 2006, Lucy Dahlgren entered the world of stevia through an investment project. She was a project developer and manager — not a food scientist. Her father, Professor Yan Li, was.

He challenged his daughter's assumptions about a field she did not yet understand. She kept asking whether science, supply, market demand and economics could be brought together into a viable project. They argued. And when she decided to pursue it, her father helped her learn the science she did not know.

That experience established a principle that still matters: respect expertise, test assumptions, connect what is missing, and make sure the project works scientifically, commercially and financially.
